Residency Facilities
The House
Jentel Artist Residency offers a beautiful place to peacefully work and achieve personal artistic goals in an unfettered environment.
Each resident has a private room with generous space for sleeping, relaxing and journaling. All rooms have immediate access to the outdoors and to spaces leading to the common areas for meal preparation, laundry, eating and relaxing. Clusters of common washroom facilities are well-spaced for privacy.
At Jentel, the desire for solitude is balanced with the opportunity to form a community and lifelong bonds.
Visual Artist Studios
The visual artist studios are located in a pole barn, a metal ranch outbuilding that is outfitted with ventilation and lighting to accommodate four artists with large, individual 400-square-foot studio spaces.
Flat fourteen-foot ceilings enhance the spaciousness of the studio. A small single window allows for outdoor views; it also maximizes the amount of usable wall space (11’, 13’ and 24’ linear feet) for two-dimensional work.
The two shorter walls are plywood with a smooth, textured surface; the longest wall is painted sheetrock. All walls are painted white. Tape, nails, staples, etc. may be used to hang work on these surfaces. Standard stocked items are the following: cloth rags, hand cleanser, and paper towels.
Individual tool kits with hammers, pliers, wire cutters, a straight edge, a level, and an assortment of nails and brads can be found in each studio. Drop cloths, T-squares, heavy duty extension cords, a variable-speed drill, step ladders, easels, and additional work tables are available upon request.
Studios are equipped with:
two worktables (one on wheels and glass-topped measuring 76 x 34 inches; the other metal-topped measuring 34 x 60 inches)
a standard wooden straight back chair
an adjustable stool on wheels
a full length mirror
a day bed
a utility sink with hot and cold water
a small metal trash can
a closed metal cabinet
a paper towel dispenser
broom and dust pan
good overhead light with both track and fluorescent lights on separate controls
Commercial air handler (ventilation system) for each of the 4 studios

Writer Studios
Two separate writer studios are located in a cozy cabin. Both spaces are comfortably furnished with a desk, desk chair, and recliner. A window provides a view to the outdoors and each studio has its own thermostat.
Studios are equipped with:
a writing desk and adjustable office chair

book shelves
overhead track lighting
individual working gas fireplace and air conditioning unit

Composer Studio
Bathed in natural light and surrounded by quiet, the composer’s studio is a serene retreat designed for deep focus and creativity. A keyboard, guitar, workspace, and acoustic paneling ensure that everything needed for long hours of composition is within reach. A kitchenette and private bathroom provide comfort and convenience, while warm wood tones, soft lighting, and an inspiring view create an inviting atmosphere that fosters uninterrupted productivity.
